Channel letters are custom-made metal or plastic letters that are commonly used on the buildings of businesses, religious buildings, and other organizations for exterior signage.
There are 3 types of Channel letters and each type has its own features and benefits:
Standard Channel Letter Signage
A standard channel letter is three-dimensional and is fabricated from most often aluminum to prevent rust. The back of the channel would be aluminum and is the basis for the letter shape. The sides of the channel letter are also aluminum and are called the returns. The back and returns are fastened to create a solid can in the shape of the letter. The lighting components such as neon gas tubes or light-emitting diode (LED) modules are fitted. A translucent plastic face and trim cap border are applied to give a finished appearance. When illuminated at night, channel letters draw the eye of passers-by.
Exposed Neon Channel Letter Signage
These are standard channel letters, but the neon is exposed to give a bright, unique look that only neon can do.
Reverse Lit Channel Letter Signage
In this type the lighting, it is directed to the back because the face is constructed from aluminum. This light floods the wall that the letter is mounted to. It is usually the most expensive Channel Letter Signage (sometimes referred to as Halo Letters) and valued by businesses that a want a prestigious image. The sign Illuminates nicely at night.
